Nick Horvath began coaching with East Coast Power in 2018. During his first season, he coached the ECP 17U team along with coach Fisher which inlcuded players such as Princeton commit Konrad Kiszka, Syracuse commit John Bol Ajak, Navy commit Sean Yoder, ESU commit David Duda and WCU commit Matt Dade. In his second season, coach Nick had a talented and fundamental 16U team that went to eight tournaments, winning four championships with six championship game appearances. The most impressive was the Hoop Group AC Tournament, which was one of ECP’s first major invitational championships. This year Coach Nick is moving to the seventh grade division and will be guiding ECP’s HGSL 13U team.
In addition to coaching AAU, Coach Nick has been an assistant coach at Gwynedd Mercy University with the men’s team since 2018. Since his time with the Griffins, the team has had two 20+ win seasons, made it to their conference championship both seasons, won their conference in 2019, made it to the NCAA Tournament round of 32 in 2019, and this year won the ECAC championship. Coach Nick focuses on film analysis, recruiting and player development.
Coach Nick is a 2004 graduate of Temple University, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Social Studies and also holds a certification in Special Education and a master’s degree in Multi-Cultural Education.
Outside of basketball, Coach Nick owns Elite 8 Basketball, a personal agility and basketball training company. Coach Nick also works with the Villanova Women’s Basketball team running summer camps each year. He has coached overseas in Goodwill Games, as well as Basketball Without Boarders programs. In 2009, coach Nick traveled to Austria and had the privilege to work with legendary Hall of Fame coach Rollie Massimino.
Coach Nick resides in Bryn Mawr, Pa. with his wife Kim, son Jaidon, and daughter Ayrianna. He also works as a high school history teacher at Methacton High School in Eagleville, PA.
